Sourcing Engineer

Sodexo is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sourcing Engineer – New Product Development to join our dynamic team in Sanaswadi, Shikrapur, Pune. This pivotal role involves leading vendor development and new product sourcing initiatives, ensuring optimal cost negotiation, and enhancing manufacturing processes. As a Sourcing Engineer – New Product Development, you will play a critical role in bringing innovative products to market efficiently and cost-effectively, contributing directly to our strategic growth and operational excellence.

We are looking for a professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record in supplier evaluation and cost reduction. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong negotiation and analytical capabilities to manage the full lifecycle of new product sourcing, from initial concept to successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive comprehensive product and vendor development activities for new programs, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
• Evaluate manufacturing feasibility, assess supplier capabilities, and make informed recommendations for strategic supplier selection.
• Conduct thorough supplier audits, performance assessments, and quality evaluations to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
• Lead and execute complex tooling and product cost negotiations with vendors, striving for optimal cost-efficiency without compromising quality.
• Oversee critical gear development processes, conduct detailed tooling studies, and meticulously plan manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency.
• Perform in-depth analysis of machining costs and spearhead impactful cost reduction initiatives across various product lines.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, maintain accurate project records, and ensure all sourcing activities adhere to regulatory and internal standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams to streamline new product introduction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant Diploma.
• Minimum of 2 to 7 years of progressive experience in sourcing, vendor development, or new product development within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
• Hands-on experience with industry-standard CAD software such as Creo, AutoCAD, and CATIA is essential.
• Solid understanding of various manufacturing processes, product costing methodologies, and supply chain dynamics.
• Demonstrated expertise in cost negotiation, supplier relationship management, and driving cost-saving initiatives.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
• Strong proficiency in utilizing Excel for data analysis and reporting, along with other general office productivity tools.
