As a key member of our operations team, the Gas Holders (BOF, CO & BF) & Boosting Station Operation specialist will play an indispensable role in ensuring the continuous and safe supply of fuel gases, critical for our steel manufacturing processes. This role demands a proactive individual with a deep understanding of gas management, process control, and safety protocols to maintain optimal plant performance and adherence to stringent industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and oversee the safe and efficient operation of BF, BOF, COG, Mixed, and other essential Fuel Gas systems.
• Conduct continuous monitoring of Gas Holders, meticulously tracking levels, pressures, temperatures, and ensuring all safety interlocks are fully functional.
• Manage the operation and promptly troubleshoot any issues related to Gas Booster & Gas Mixing Stations (GBMS).
• Utilize SCADA, HMI, and PLC-based systems for real-time monitoring, process control, and data acquisition to optimize operations.
• Ensure precise fuel gas balancing between generation sources and consumption points to maintain operational stability.
• Implement gas mixing protocols according to specified ratios and plant-specific requirements for various processes.
• Manage comprehensive gas pipeline operations including charging, purging, testing, planned shutdowns/startups, and swift response to emergency situations.
• Maintain optimal gas network pressure and guarantee the secure distribution of gas throughout the plant infrastructure.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities and shutdown strategies for Gas Holders, Boosters, and gas lines.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with SOP, HIRA, ESI, IMS, PSM, and all process safety regulations.
• Conduct and oversee Gas Safety Training programs and ensure strict adherence to Permit-to-Work procedures.
• Prepare accurate operation logs, detailed Gas Balance Reports, and various management reports for informed decision-making.
• Perform precise Specific Energy Consumption & Carbon Emission calculations to support sustainability initiatives.
• Oversee the integrated management of Fuel Gas–Steam–Power Balance to optimize energy utilization.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE / B.Tech) is mandatory.
• A minimum of 10 to 12 years of progressive experience in Gas Holders (BOF, CO & BF) & Boosting Station Operation within the steel industry is essential.
• Demonstrated expertise in Fuel Gas / Gas Holder / Gas Booster / SCADA Operations in a large-scale steel plant setting.
• Proficiency in using SCADA, HMI/PLC, and DCS systems for process monitoring and control.
• Strong understanding of SAP PM for maintenance planning and execution.
• In-depth knowledge of energy management principles and gas safety protocols.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent analytical skills for preparing detailed reports and performing technical calculations.
