Firewall Expert

AvenDATA is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firewall Expert (FortiGate) to join our dynamic and international team. This is a crucial full-time, long-term 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to cutting-edge network security solutions. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in FortiGate firewall management and a passion for securing complex enterprise and cloud environments.

As a Firewall Expert (FortiGate) at AvenDATA, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust FortiGate firewall solutions. Your expertise will ensure the integrity and security of our network infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and meticulously maintain enterprise-level FortiGate firewall solutions, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Manage comprehensive firewall policies, security zones, Network Address Translation (NAT), Access Control Lists (ACLs), and intricate network segmentation.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot various Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), including IPsec, SSL VPN, and site-to-site connections.
• Proactively monitor network threats using Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), SSL inspection, and URL filtering.
• Perform in-depth analysis of logs, traffic patterns, and security events utilizing FortiGate Analyzer to identify and mitigate risks.
• Configure and maintain High Availability (HA) firewall deployments, including clustering and failover mechanisms for maximum uptime.
• Integrate FortiGate solutions with critical identity and access management systems such as Active Directory (AD), LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS+, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
• Implement and maintain robust security measures for cloud environments, specifically across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
• Automate routine firewall tasks and processes using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools like Python, Ansible, APIs, or Terraform.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Firewall and Network Security.
• Mandatory strong, proven expertise in FortiGate firewalls and FortiGate Analyzer.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with core networking protocols including TCP/IP, VPNs, firewall policies, and ACLs.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing High Availability (HA) setups and securing cloud environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team setting.
