Engineering Analytics

Join our client's team in Edmonton as an Engineering Analytics / Data Analyst for a pivotal 12-month contract. This on-site role is perfect for a skilled professional passionate about leveraging data to drive efficiency and ensure robust project execution within dynamic construction and utility environments. As an Engineering Analytics / Data Analyst, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering projects and actionable data insights, working closely with Project Managers and engineering stakeholders from project inception to closeout. Your expertise will ensure data integrity, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to critical operational and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the coordination of assigned projects, providing comprehensive support to Project Managers throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
• Actively monitor and report on project costs and schedules, manage crew scheduling, oversee contract administration, and ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) reporting, quality management, and regulatory deliverables.
• Take ownership of maintaining highly accurate and reliable project and engineering data, crucial for supporting core business and operational requirements.
• Champion data governance initiatives by meticulously documenting business rules, optimizing workflows, establishing clear data standards, and implementing robust data-quality procedures.
• Develop and manage essential reference libraries while establishing and diligently monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for data quality.
• Prepare, rigorously validate, and present data outputs for various purposes, including internal and external audits, regulatory submissions, operational reporting, and advanced analytics.
• Proactively identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in data collection, maintenance, and validation processes across the organization.
• Strategically optimize workflows and introduce practical automation solutions to significantly enhance operational efficiency and bolster data accuracy.
• Ensure that underlying data structures are robust, fit for purpose, and fully capable of effectively supporting all downstream reporting and analytical requirements.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is essential; a relevant technical diploma or certificate will also be considered.
• A minimum of 4 years of proven project management or project coordination experience is required, with a strong preference for experience gained within a construction or utility environment.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting utility construction projects, particularly those involving energized substations, coupled with a solid understanding of associated hazards and safe work practices.
• Comprehensive understanding of foundational Project Management processes and procedures, ideally aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guidelines.
• Practical experience working with and analyzing project, engineering, operational, or construction-related data.
• Possess strong analytical, organizational, and documentation abilities, alongside excellent stakeholder coordination skills.
• Nice to Have: Project Management Professional (PMP) designation; Experience within the utilities, energy, electrical infrastructure, or construction sectors; Experience with data governance, data quality, workflow optimization, and process automation.
