Devops/SRE with Performance Testing

MetrixIT is actively seeking an experienced Devops/SRE with Performance Testing expertise to join our team for an onsite contract role in O'Fallon, MO. This critical position is designed for a skilled professional who can drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of our distributed systems. As a Devops/SRE with Performance Testing, you will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our complex infrastructure, ensuring high availability and peak performance across various deployment environments. You will leverage your deep technical skills to implement advanced performance testing strategies, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and enhance our continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and operate critical workloads deployed across diverse environments, including Kubernetes, on-premise (bare metal/VMs), and PCF, with beneficial exposure to public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and automation in all stages of the deployment lifecycle.
• Apply comprehensive knowledge of monitoring, observability, and performance testing methodologies to identify and resolve system performance issues, utilizing tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, JMeter, LoadRunner, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Develop and execute load, stress, and performance tests using industry-leading tools like JMeter and LoadRunner to validate system capabilities under various conditions.
• Implement and manage containerization solutions with Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes to ensure scalable and resilient application deployments.
• Automate operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning through advanced scripting in Shell, Python, and Groovy, enhancing system efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
• Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to embed SRE principles and performance best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Requirements

• Proven experience in SRE, Release Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles with a strong focus on system reliability and performance.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes for orchestrating highly available and scalable applications.
• Extensive experience with CI/CD tools and a strong understanding of automation frameworks to build and maintain efficient deployment pipelines.
• Solid programming proficiency, preferably with Java and Spring Boot, enabling the development of custom tools and automation scripts.
• In-depth knowledge of monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana for proactive system health management.
• Expertise in performance testing tools including JMeter and LoadRunner, with a track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
• Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, and Groovy for automation, system administration, and data analysis tasks.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure is a significant advantage, demonstrating versatility in cloud-native environments.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential system issues before they impact users.
