Data Governance Engineer

Onix Datametica is actively seeking an experienced and dedicated Data Governance Engineer to join our dynamic team in Pune. This pivotal full-time role requires a professional with 4 to 8 years of experience in establishing robust data governance frameworks across enterprise data ecosystems. As a Data Governance Engineer at Onix Datametica, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the integrity, security, and compliance of our data assets, primarily leveraging the power of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to drive data trust and transparency. We are looking for an expert who is ready to shape our data strategy and contribute significantly to our growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level data governance solutions, strategically leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Dataplex, Dataproc, and BigQuery to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
• Develop, integrate, and operationalize automated data quality checks within existing and new data pipelines to maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all data sources.
• Establish and meticulously maintain comprehensive data catalogs and end-to-end data lineage documentation, providing full transparency and traceability across our critical data assets.
• Implement and enforce robust data security measures, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, advanced data encryption strategies, and effective PII masking techniques, to ensure stringent compliance with global data privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
• Collaborate closely with data architects, data engineers, and various business stakeholders to seamlessly embed data governance best practices throughout the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion to consumption.
• Act as a subject matter expert in data governance, providing insightful guidance, technical leadership, and support to various teams on best practices, tools, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 4 to 8 years of progressive professional experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or a similar specialized data-focused role.
• Demonstrable strong expertise in SQL for data querying and manipulation, and proficiency in Python, including experience with data processing frameworks like PySpark or Dataflow, and building robust ETL pipelines.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, advanced cloud data modeling techniques, and data architecture best practices essential for large-scale data environments.
• Proven experience with leading data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica, or equivalent cloud-native solutions on major cloud providers.
• Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services like BigQuery, Cloud Data Fusion, and Data Catalog is a significant advantage. Candidates with strong governance experience in AWS or Azure, ready to transition and scale their skills in GCP, are also highly encouraged to apply.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities (written and verbal), and a meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to data integrity.
