Associate Software Engineer

VikingCloud India is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team in Vadodara, Gujarat. This pivotal role is designed for a technical leader who thrives on hands-on architecture, complex problem-solving, and mentoring a small, dedicated engineering team. As a Software Engineering Lead, you will be instrumental in building cutting-edge eCommerce marketplace and payment infrastructure platforms.

We are searching for an individual contributor with a passion for writing production-grade code and driving innovation in a cloud-native environment. If you possess a deep understanding of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and payment processing technologies like Stripe, this opportunity offers a significant impact on our core product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop a modern eCommerce Marketplace Platform from conception to deployment.
• Implement robust subscription billing systems, including monthly, annual, and usage-based models.
• Integrate and manage Stripe Billing, Checkout, and Webhooks for seamless payment experiences.
• Develop and optimize payment processing and tax automation solutions.
• Design and manage enterprise entitlements and license management systems.
• Build and deploy cloud-native microservices on leading cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small team of software engineers, fostering their growth and development.
• Contribute significantly to code reviews, system design, and the overall technical direction of projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of extensive experience in software engineering, with a proven track record in technical leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience in building complex subscription and payment platforms.
• Profound expertise in Java (17+), Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectural patterns.
• Strong understanding of Stripe, webhooks, recurring billing, payment reliability, and scalable system design.
• Proficiency with microservices architecture and REST APIs.
• Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure), Kubernetes, ArgoCD, GitOps, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD.
• A passion for mentoring junior engineers while maintaining high productivity as an individual contributor.
• Bonus points for experience with Salesforce integrations, PCI DSS/Secure Payments, Avalara or other tax platforms, Kafka, Redis, and Terraform.
